Neurological conditions

I assess and treat all conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord or nerves. Examples of conditions include:

  • Stroke
  • MS (Multiple sclerosis)
  • PD (Parkinson’s disease)
  • Brain injuries
  • Peripheral neuropathies
  • CP (Cerebral Palsy)
  • MND (Motor neurone disease)
  • PSP (Progressive supra nuclear palsy)
  • Peripheral neuropathies
  • Spinal cord injuries

Physiotherapy treatment programmes can include:
Balance practice, posture and gait (walking) re-education, stretching, progressive strengthening, neuro stimulation, taping, massage, proprioception practice, sensory practice.

Musculoskeletal conditions

Alongside my neuro experience I have always continued working with patients who have musculoskeletal injuries such as:

  • Sports injuries
  • Aches and pain throughout the body
  • Orthopaedic rehabilitation

With also the possibility of treating patients with neurological conditions who have musculoskeletal pain.

Physiotherapy treatment programmes I use include:
Soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, functional strengthening, posture and gait assessment and re-education, massage and acupuncture.

Vestibular conditions

Vestibular Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy for people who have problems with their vestibular system (inner ear) which can cause symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, spinning or balance problems.

  • BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)
  • Vestibular Neuritis
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Migraine associated dizziness
  • Meniere’s
  • Autonomic Neuroma
  • Dizziness in the elderly

Vestibular rehabilitation, Balance re-education and Repositioning manoeuvres.

Complex Rehabilitation / Long term non-Neuro conditions

My extensive experience has enabled me to treat people with more than one condition, or chronic non-neurological conditions. These include:

  • RTA (road traffic accidents which tend to have multiple orthopaedic injuries as well as possible head/vestibular injuries)
  • EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)
  • AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis)
  • RA (Rheumatoid Arthitis)

Strengthening, posture and gait re-education, soft tissue mobilisation, massage.
